Students union or political activists?

By Rehan Bashir

At the time of Pakistan’s settlement the functions of political parties were very meaningfull in the life of students who wanted to serve their nation but these days the role is opposite and different then the time of independence.

In our university there are so many political parties who are working only for their own interests in the shape of student unions and quite a few students get their admission under the shade of these political parties. Irrespective of the fact whether they have the required capability to get enrolled and due to this some brilliant students are deprived of admissions which is in no means less than a murder of so called merit.

At present the interference of such political parties has increased immensely and they have become so powerful and fearless that they do not hesitate while degrading the administration of the university or departments. Not only this, they often threat teachers and use their power to get better marks, to increase their attendance etc.

The majority of the students mainly associate themselves with such parties to have power and in order to take illegal benefits through wrong means. We have witnessed several classes which causes disturbance in normal schedule and students get terrified too due to such violence.

It has become very necessary to take a severe action against such people who are responsible for discrimination and chaos.
