Ramadan and energy sapping long walks

By Sharjeel Ali Khan

Coming to the university in the hot and humid weather of august especially in Ramadan is a kind of mission impossible for most of the students of University of Karachi. Hanging around in the points for almost half an hour, when we reach at the check post near silver jubilee gate, there is a long march waiting for the students. We helpless students have to walk approx 500m to reach our department in fasting and there is nothing worst than that.
It is acceptable if its ends here but the most irritating thing to do is to return back to almost where we started to take our sub-si class in the arts lobby after only one class or two in our department. This is not only our sad story but also the students of different departments who have mass communication in minor subject have to come three days in a week to the department as well. The university officials have planned a terrific dieting plan for the student by urging them to walk that long but I think they didn’t know that most of the students are under weight including me as well.
I felt that this schedule benefiting rickshaw drivers not the students, they are making money because of this.
